PEEK Injection Molding

As a high-performance engineering plastic product, PEEK injection molding plays an increasingly important role in modern industry. Its good mechanical properties, high temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance and self-lubricating properties make it widely used in many fields.

Advantages:

  • It can be injection molded in a Class 10,000 clean room to reduce costs and meet implant regulations;
  • Lower and close to bone modulus of elasticity (about 3.8 GPa for PEEK, 3.2-7.8 GPa for cancellous bone, 17-20 GPa for cortical bone);
  • It is transparent to X-rays and does not show up on CT and MRI scans;
  • Good sterilization performance. It maintains its original properties even after prolonged exposure to high-temperature steam, ethylene oxide, and gamma radiation, ensuring long-lasting performance in medical applications;
  • The harsh temperature can reach 250℃ for long-term use, and the instantaneous use temperature can reach 300℃.

  • CONTACT US
  • The manufacturing process of PEEK injection molding parts is relatively complex and requires strict control of each link to ensure product quality.

    Raw material preparation

     Use high-purity PEEK particles to ensure the stable performance of injection molding. The purity requirement is usually above 99.5%.

    Mold design

    The mold design of PEEK injection molding needs to take into account its poor fluidity and reasonably design the gate, runner and cooling system to ensure the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the injection molding parts. The mold temperature is generally controlled at 120-150°C.

    Injection molding machine selection

    PEEK injection molding requires the use of a high-temperature injection molding machine, and the temperature and pressure control accuracy of the injection molding machine must be high to ensure the stability of the injection molding process. The injection molding temperature is generally between 350-400°C and the pressure is 100-150 MPa.

    Injection molding process parameter setting

    PEEK injection molding process parameters include temperature, pressure, speed and cooling time, etc. They need to be optimized according to specific material and product requirements to ensure the performance and quality of injection molded parts. The cooling time is generally controlled at 20-40 seconds.

    Post-processing

    PEEK injection molded parts need post-processing, such as annealing and machining, to eliminate internal stress and improve dimensional accuracy and surface quality. The annealing temperature is generally 150-200°C and the time is 1-2 hours.

  • PEEK's biocompatibility and chemical resistance make it an ideal material for manufacturing medical devices such as artificial joints, spinal implants and surgical instruments. Currently, more than 50% of spinal implants in the world are made of PEEK.

  • Medical Polyimide Tubing Medical Polyimide Tubing
    Medical Polyimide Tubing exhibits good strength and wear resistance, maintaining its performance even at small dimensions. For medical surgical applications that demand additional lubricity, PI/PTFE composite materials offer a lower coefficient of friction, thereby reducing the surface resistance of the tubing. By combining the unique properties of PI and PTFE, the tubing ensures a sufficiently smooth inner wall, while the PI component enhances the structural support of the entire tube, effectively preventing deformation.
